THE HAFNER CREATIVE SPACE
The Hafner Creative Space is located in scenic Greens Farms, CT, one hour from NYC on the Metro North Line. Classes meet in the 200-year old farmhouse and adjacent studios that are the new home and studio of artist Dorothy Hafner, formerly of New York City.
The glass studio is fully stocked with over 150 radiant colors of glass. Professional quality tools, equipment and materials are provided as well as the firing services.
Classes are small (2-4 per class) allowing ample time for personal attention. Emphasis is on assisting students to pursue and cultivate their own unique voice, style and subject matter. Hafner's extensive personal Art and Design library is available for reference to all students.
In Spring 2012, guest instructors will offer classes in complementary media such as photography.
ABOUT DOROTHY HAFNER
In the 1980's she created avant-garde table wares for both Tiffany & Co. and Rosenthal Studio-Line that garnered both critical praise and commercial success. Today these designs are widely collected and often cited as icons of their time.

In the 1990's Hafner gifted herself an artistic sabbatical, returning to her studio full time and soon began a "love affair with glass", now her primary medium.
Her poly-chrome, exotically shaped vessels won instant acclaim. She then developed innovative techniques for fused glass, applying them to her widely collected art glass panels and sculpture.
Most recently she added architectural installations to her range. Two are now permanent lobby installations at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston and the Frisbie Memorial Hospital, NH.
Over 20 Museum Collections worldwide include Hafner works, many in multiple media, including the Corning Museum of Glass, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of Arts and Design, the Denver Art Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Stedelijk Museum.
Artworks by Hafner are featured in over 60 books on Fine Art, Craft and Design.
A Manhattan resident for over 30 years, Hafner now lives, works and teaches out of a 200-year old farmhouse in scenic Greens Farms, Ct. The new location is the Hafner Creative Space, site of her own classes and those of guest instructors.
